14mm single wall heat shrink tubing, sold by the metre and cut to the length you order. Slide it over the join, heat it, and it shrinks down tight to insulate and protect the wire. At $2.00 a metre, it is the low-cost choice for dry, indoor and under-dash work.
What 14mm suits
- small looms and bundled leads
- battery cable ends
- tool handles and grips that need a tidy cover
Choose a diameter that slides over the widest part of the join. For a thinner join, use 10mm. For a thicker one, step up to 16mm.
Single wall or dual wall?
Single wall tubing insulates and protects but does not seal. Where a join will see water, use 3:1 dual wall heat shrink: its adhesive liner melts to seal the join.
