4.8mm 3:1 dual wall heat shrink, sold by the metre at $3.50 and cut to the length you order. It shrinks to a third of its size, down to about 1.6mm, and the adhesive inner liner melts to seal the join against water.

Picking the size

Choose a diameter that slides over the widest part of the join. 4.8mm tubing passes over parts up to about 4.8mm across and grips wire down to about 1.6mm once shrunk. Smaller: 3.2mm. Larger: 6.4mm.

At 4.8mm, a small heat gun nozzle or reflector keeps the heat on the tube and off nearby insulation. For dry joins that need no seal, single wall heat shrink costs less.
